One thing that is really fascinating is to look at how we hold our weight and what it is really saying about what is going on within our minds and hearts. I have discovered that is normal within each cycle to feel as if specific areas of our body are blown totally out of proportion and you can feel bigger than you actually are. The purpose for this is to tune into what is going on beneath the surface, by focusing on you your become much more self aware and conscious of how to nurture yourself. You will notice if you pay attention, that once you are in a different cycle, it is as if your full attention goes someplace else and what seemed to be such a big deal, goes into the background, while another area comes to the forefront. In the month of Leo, the areas of the body are the stomach, chest and arms. You will notice that it is a time when we enhance those areas with clothing and adornment or the opposite, you will want to lose weight in those areas. It is not uncommon to say to yourself, I need to do some sit ups to tighten my abs or some push ups to make sure that my arms have tone to them. I need to go to the gym, do some yoga or some other form of exercise. This inner dialogue is normal in this phase.
But what we want to look at today is beneath the surface to see what is really going on and how you look applies to your life. Ask yourself where do you hold weight in your body? How do you know when you have blocked your energy flow or whether it is flowing? This is important because it affects everything how open you are, how confident you feel and all of this information tells a story to others about how you feel about yourself.
BLOCKING ENERGY FLOW
Try this exercise - cross your arms. Now release your arms by your side. Now put your shoulders back, now hunch your shoulders. Notice the difference how your body language looks and feels. See and feel the contrast. Now imagine being out on the court in life, you go into automatic, a primal part of you kicks in and you feel safe or you want to protect yourself. It is instinctual. But, what if you were able to stop for a moment, in the moment and really see what you were doing and why. What does certain movements say about your thoughts, your feelings about yourself and your responses to the elements that you are facing?
Anytime that you cross your arms or hunch over you are blocking the flow of energy in your body. When you stand upright, energy can flow. You will want to notice this month, when you are doing the opposite and what is going on in your life in that moment to trigger that response. Notice whether your shoulders have been hunched over or whether you have been crossing your arms. Hunching your shoulders suggests a lack of confidence or trying to protect the heart. When you catch yourself doing it, look at what you are responding to - is it an inner dialogue or are you responding to what is going on around you. This will help to bring consciousness into this area. If your shoulders are back and upright it suggests that you feel confidence, self assurance and empowerment. It is showing that you really feel great about yourself. In addition, are you crossing your arms over your belly, suggesting that you are protecting that area of the body? The belly is your power center and crossing your arms is suggesting a fear of someone taking your power. If your belly is toned and flat it is a sign of not over indulging of course, but it signifies that you are digesting and processing your ideas easily - not holding on to anything that is unnecessary.
WEIGHT GAIN
You may want to do this exercise in front of a mirror. Stand in front of a mirror and look at your arms, your chest and your stomach. How do you feel when you look at these areas of the body? Are you inspired or is it obvious that you are holding onto energy in those areas? If you have gained weight, this is an opportunity to look for what it is that is weighing you down.
When you gain weight in the belly - the Solar Plexus and the Heart Chakra area - the shoulders, the chest and arms, it is not that apparent until you are in this cycle. All that is is that you're holding onto energy that relates to that associated area of your life. And the bigger that area is, the more you have to compensate in other areas. This is a balancing act.
Let's take a look at your stomach - the stomach area represents the area of trust, making choices, confidence, empowerment, feeling a sense of yourself. If you have weight gain in that area of your body - you are holding onto something that is causing that area to amplify. Take a look at your life to see how the theme relates to what is going on for you right now.
Next look at your heart chakra area - the arms and chest. When the solar plexus area which is the whole digestive system is blocked it affects your heart. The heart is the area of love, relationships, health, well being, being present, finances. Take a look in your life around what is going on in these areas, what are you holding onto? Once you have gotten to the core of what is going on in your life, it becomes a lot easier to see a more holistic way of determining what it is you are really holding onto and you can easily be in action releasing that stress, toxins and emotional energy that is connected to it.
To release weight in these areas of the body it goes back to the basics - 80% diet and 20% exercise. It is energy in, energy out. You have to be conscious of both to have a balance of giving and receiving of energy.
BODY IMAGE
Knowing all of this information impacts you the most when you are standing in front of the mirror, ready to try on clothes, or getting ready for an interview or a date. Any event that is important to you it is important to be aware of what your thoughts are about yourself and to become present to how it is impacting how you feel not just in that moment but for the rest of your whole day. I recommend taking time to be present and to really look and be with yourself as a source of inspiration. Find things that are unique about you, build yourself up with positive thoughts, your passions and your mission for the day. Allow that perspective determine your view of the world, your actions and how you carry your body will follow the patterns you have generated. Feeling great about how you look is an inside job as you can see, it is determined by what you are thinking. And even though when you go out into the world you don't have a mirror standing in front of you, your life around you will become that mirror reflecting back to you what you are thinking, feeling and saying to yourself. So as you can see the clothing you wear is icing on the cake and it is just a tool that furthers your self expression. So as you get ready today, take notice more than normal, your attitude and how that state of mind shows up within the patterns of your day. Notice when you take on being intentional with every aspect of your relationship with your body and the celebration of it through clothing, that at the heart of it, it is really about it is about loving all of your parts and yourself as a whole.
FEELING LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS
To feel great about yourself requires love and care and one of the most challenging things to do when you are really busy - to focus on yourself. It is easy to get wrapped up in what there is to do, to be productive, and it is not uncommon to put your own needs on the back burner. However, to feel great about you, it is essential to spend time being comfortable in your own skin each day, to focus wholeheartedly on you while you exercise, to do conscious eating, and to be present with every experience you are having in your life. I guarantee you will become much more productive and how much more of yourself to give if you do. All of this level of awareness will roll into how you carry yourself. It will impact standing tall, feeling confident like you can conquer the world. It affects your overall feeling of positivity which becomes a filter in which you view life. This positive state of mind brings opportunities to you, it inspires you, motivates, excites you, amplifies your intuition, to follow your heart your passions and brings them to life.
